STOP 1
Panormo

Panormo is a fantastic beach town. It has just the right mix of modern convenience and traditional atmosphere. Its natural port is the center of three lovely bays around which the town is situated. This means that there are three convenient beaches to choose from. The central harbor, thanks to the long breakwater protecting the harbor, is the very calmest, but all three are reasonably sheltered from the famous Meltemi winds that can toss up the sea along the north coast of Crete.

At the beaches, you can try out a variety of watersports. There is also a diving center on the western most beach if you would like to have a scuba diving experience.

The town itself is a fantastic place for a romantic stroll. Narrow alleys are lined with traditional houses, some with lovely Italian – style balconies.

STOP 2

Bali

The seaside resort of Bali is located in a large gulf, 30km east of Rethymno and 43km west of Heraklion. Next to the village passes the National Road linking Heraklion and Rethymno, making Bali accessible from any part of the island. It is ideal for family and romantic holidays. Bali has four beaches, which are formed in sandy coves with nice greenish waters. The beaches are almost always calm, since the bay of Bali faces to the west. They all are suitable for children and well organized. Moreover, water is cool because of the several springs around that carry fresh water into the sea from Psiloritis Range.

STOP 3

Good Land - Kalo Horafi

Kalo Horafi is located approximately 37km east of Rethymno and 43km west of Heraklion, at the former position of 317 Agii Pateres Pelekida (317 Holy Fathers) monastery. The monastery cells do not survive today, but there is a newer chapel commemorating that built on the site of the old. Kalo Horafi is the name of the wider area, characterized by the wild Cretan landscape with the steep Talean mountains and the green ravines.

A short dirt track (200m), starting at the point on the highway where Chnaris tavern is located, leads to a nice small beach, that looks west. Apart from the tavern and some villas, there is nothing else in the area. The beach is also known as Vossako, since from this point starts the ravine of Vossako which leads close to the homonymous Vosako monastery, after 1-1.5 hours walking.
